2015 was a bad year all round for most of the energy related community; there were numerous cutbacks at all levels resulting in very few individuals having a warm, fuzzy feeling about their employment and workplace security. Although T-sphere didn’t escape unscathed either, it’s survived, is adapting and forging ahead. There are quite a few reasons for the downturn, some of them going back 4 years or more, but combining them all produced a situation that just needed that last straw, the sustained fall in oil prices, to break the camel’s back.
Several years ago, T-sphere’s President, Brian Morr, was speaking at an industry dinner at the time of an earlier downturn and made an observation about the situation many companies were finding themselves in. Brian said that it was necessary to first recognize a situation, then accept its existence and then adapt to it. This holds true even more so in the current business environment. Many companies and individuals will continue with the same activities and hope that their fortunes will improve and they might be lucky. However, there are no guarantees for 2016; the future remains uncertain and so we believe that the changes made to T-sphere enable it to offer its clients cost effective and innovative ways to do business in the changing energy market.
Opportunities still exist although they are harder to discover. Investors may be looking for new technologies in which to invest; technologies may provide cost effective solutions to existing and future problems for operators. Both sides need to be aware of the other’s existence and be able to evaluate the benefits and downsides of any future relationship: T-sphere’s business model can help with that. It’s important right now to plant seeds to begin the process of creating marketplace awareness.
